AUGUSTA – Rosemarie Rowell Granger, 83, of Woolwich and China, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, after a brief illness. “Ree” was born on Oct. 13, 1942, in Hartford, Conn., to William Clogston Rowell and Margaret O’Brien Rowell. She attended St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Academy, Deering High School, and Westbrook College in Portland before earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Hampshire. A lifelong Roman Catholic, Ree was a devout communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Bath. Ree’s greatest passion was Morgan horses, and she devoted many joyful years to showing and caring for them. She competed in and won Morgan Horse shows throughout the East, notably earning second place at Nationals with her beloved horse, Jack McNary. She also showed dogs, and adored her childhood Dalmatian, Bonnie. Rosemarie met Clark Granger of Lee, N.H., while attending UNH. They were married on Aug. 31, 1965, in Portland, and settled in Woolwich in 1969. Together, they shared over six decades of marriage, family, hard work, and cherished memories. In 2024, Clark and Ree built a home and moved full-time to South China to live on the farm that Clark and Greg had nurtured for many years, bringing her closer to her son and grandchildren.
