DURHAM – Ronald “Ron” Pottle, 82, of Durham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, with family members at his bedside. He was also under the compassionate care of hospice. For the past three years, Ron lived in Durham with his niece, Renee, and nephew, John, who lovingly supported him throughout his illness.
Born on July 24, 1944, in Lewiston, Ron was the son of Rita Curtis and Fred Pottle. From a young age, he possessed a natural curiosity and a talent for fixing things – skills that guided him into a long and dedicated career as an HVAC technician. He took great pride in his work, and his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand earned him the respect of coworkers and friends alike. Ron was often the first to offer help, whether someone needed a repair, a ride, or simply a good laugh.
Outside of his profession, Ron was an avid outdoorsman. He found joy in photography, bicycling, camping, and motorcycling – activities that reflected his appreciation for nature, adventure, and quiet moments of reflection.
Ron is survived by two siblings; several nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary.
A celebration of life will be held on 1 p.m., Oct. 17, at 21 Penney Lane in Durham. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Ron’s life.
Memories and condolences can be shared at http://www.brackettfh.com.
