Why are you running?

What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?
We have several big challenges facing Brewer and Penobscot county. One is the overcrowding at the jail. Another is housing and homelessness. A third is mental health and substance abuse. Those issues are also big opportunities to improve our quality of life. Another is finding ways to encourage businesses that would bring excitement to our city and also, perhaps relieve some of the tax burden of our residents
If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?
I’m not sure because being new I don’t have a complete handle on how things currently function. I’m excited to learn and if changes would improve our way of doing things, be part of bringing them about.
Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?
Absolutely, support more development in housing and in attracting businesses to our town. There is a dearth of affordable housing, which includes rentals, and senior housing. Costs keep rising and people are having to make tough choices when it comes to where to live. We need new business growth to keep our city vibrant, drive economic growth and create jobs.
