Why are you running?

What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?
The largest challenge facing Brewer is similar to much of Maine, which is housing affordability and increased costs to stay in a home. After that is safety for pedestrians and kids and dog walkers on our roads. The largest opportunity for Brewer is the quality of life and our community. Brewer is a city that works together, makes sound policy decisions that improves the lives of our residents. We can build on that stability to attract more business and development.
If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?
Brewer is a well run and functioning city with a good council, excellent staff and strong community – there is little I would change, rather continue building upon. I’d like to bring my background and expertise to this council and serve the place where my family and friends live to ensure a continued quality of life for my children and future generations.
Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?
I support increased development of both housing and business. In particular, adding more high and medium density housing will provide opportunities for young families to move to Brewer and consolidate growth and limit development and long term maintenance costs to the city for associated infrastructural improvements. Brewer also needs to attract a range of businesses to build on our excellent quality of life.
