Previous Offices Held

I am currently serving on the city council. I was elected in June 2025 to fill a vacancy, hence the 18-month term. Previously, I was elected to the position of election ward clerk and I served from November 2022 – December 2025.

Top Three Priorities

Better communication overall, including on the website, in Community Connections, and in response to petitions and citizen requests 2) Maintenance and improvement of city services, along with support for the city employees who provide them. 3) Protection of our intertwined health and environment. Together we are the stewards of this beautiful city where we live, play, swim, ski, kayak, fish, hunt, and raise the next generation.

Why are you running?

I want to do my part to make sure Old Town is a place where people feel welcome, comfortable, and safe no matter their skin color, religion, disability, gender, sexuality, or the language they speak. There is so much going on at the national and international levels that feels impossible to do anything about, but serving locally is something I can do for this city I love.

What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?

Old Town is at a crossroads. We are a mill city without a mill. This is our biggest challenge and opportunity. We need to decide: are we a city with stellar services (fire, police, library, public works, etc) or one that prioritizes the lowest possible taxes? Are we an industrial city, a tourism hub, or something else entirely? At a time when many struggle to afford groceries, we can’t just keep treading water. We need to come together and work toward a vision that benefits our whole community.

If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?

I would demystify council proceedings and how city decisions get made. There is a lot of jargon and procedure, making it hard to understand what is happening and how issues get resolved. I also know that, at times, when a citizen comes before the council with an issue, it can feel like they are speaking into the void, which is wrong. Active participation from residents is necessary for the city council to best serve its community, and any barriers to that should be removed.

Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?

Yes, though we need to use vacant and decaying stock where possible and focus on dense growth areas to best utilize city resources. For housing, what I have heard from experts on Old Town is that we need to encourage the development of new neighborhoods with small lots that would be suitable for low to middle income young families and retirees. I believe that, if planned well, new development can add needed housing and businesses while maintaining the beauty and character of Old Town.
