Brunswick looks to grant for bulk of $3 million downtown sidewalk overhaul
According to town meeting materials, the project is still in the design phase, and staff is working to find funding, including a recent application for a $2.1 million grant through the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program.

Harpswell tax rate increases 4 cents
This year’s property tax rate is $6.74 per $1,000 of valuation, 4 cents more than last year’s rate. A property assessed at $200,000 will now see a tax bill of $1,348, up from $1,340 in 2019.

Freeport-area school board approves hybrid reopening with goal of full in-person learning by October
The hybrid plan will divide K-12 students into two cohorts, with one group attending school on Mondays and Wednesdays and the other on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cohorts will alternate on Fridays, meaning students will have three days of in-person instruction every other week.

Construction on Brunswick Veterans Plaza to begin next week
The $320,000 Veterans Plaza monument will honor area veterans, living and dead, for their service, no matter when or where they fought. It is scheduled to open to the public on Veterans Day.
