Temperatures hit the mid-80s in Portland on Monday, but inside the Christmas Noel shop on Exchange Street, it always feels a little like winter.

Tori Broshes, 19, a sales associate at the shop, spent the day arranging displays and stocking shelves for the store’s Christmas in July sale (the company’s website reminded visitors there were only 153 days before the big event).

Broshes, who also dances with the Vivid Motion dance company, has been working at the store for nearly a year. She said the steady flow of customers through the shop, even in the summer season, was a bit of a surprise to her, but says the business really picks up from September to December.

The appeal of the job, she says, is helping customers find a perfect gift or ornament.
