A man was rescued from Portland Harbor on Saturday morning after falling in near Custom House Wharf.
Crews were called to the area at about 10 a.m. for a report of two people in the water in distress.
Portland police Sgt. Eric Nevins said the man had a medical episode and fell into the channel between Custom House Wharf and Portland Pier.
A man who saw the incident went into the water to help the man who fell until emergency personnel arrived, Nevins said. He didn’t know if the second man was an acquaintance of the man who fell or a bystander. Nevins did not identify either man.
Paramedics retrieved the man who fell from the water and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Nevins said the man was not injured from the fall and was being treated for his medical episode.
