MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Jack Allard scored from Charlie Fay with 4.9 seconds left in overtime to lead Bates to a 12-11 win over Wesleyan in a New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse game Saturday.
Kyle Weber scored three goals and Jake Walsh had four assists for Bates (4-0, 2-0 NESCAC), while Clarke Jones, Max Breschi and Fay each added two goals.
Niall Devaney scored three goals for Wesleyan.
Joe Faria saved 20 shots for Bates, while Ted Bergman also stopped 20 for Wesleyan (0-2, 0-2).
SOUTHERN MAINE 14, MAINE MARITIME 6: Seth Wing, Jeff Urmston and Nate DelGiudice each scored second-period goals as the Huskies (1-0) took a 6-3 lead at the half and beat the Mariners (0-1) in Castine.
DelGiudice, Urmston and Paul Leonardo scored three goals each for the Huskies, while Wing added two goals.
Michael Martel and Dean Samuelson each scored twice for Maine Maritime.
John Bossi stopped 11 shots for the Huskies, and Cody Schell 13 for the Mariners.
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 9, PLYMOUTH STATE 5: Mitch Mullin scored twice as the Nor’easters (2-1) scored the final four goals of the game to pull away from the Panthers (0-1) in Biddeford.
Mullin, Dan Auger and Sam Cloutier each scored twice for UNE. Tom Luttrell, David Rubenstein and Andrew Markham also scored for the Nor’easters.
Bobby Savoia and Colin Clafin had two goals each for the Panthers.
HAMILTON 11, COLBY 10: Clay McCollum scored with 7:20 left to lift the Continentals past the Mules in the NESCAC opener for both teams in Waterville.
Sam Sweet had three goals and four assists for Hamilton. McCollum, Joe Ricciuti and Eric Zurmuehle each added a pair of goals.
Colton Michel and Kevin Seiler both had three goals for Colby.
AMHERST 10, BOWDOIN 7: Kane Haffey scored twice as Amherst opened a 5-0 halftime lead and coasted to victory against the Polar Bears in the NESCAC opener for both teams in Brunswick.
Brandon Lee had two goals for Bowdoin, while Shawn Daley, Matthew Crowell, Brett Kujala, Sam Carlin and Tim Bulens each had one goal.
SALEM ST. 15, ST. JOSEPH’S 6: Ben Melaugh and Alex Pearson each scored four goals to lead the Vikings (2-0) over the Monks (1-1) at Memorial Stadium in Portland.
Bobby Bourgeois, Thomas Lyons and Sean Quinlan each added goals for the Vikings, who outshot the Monks 30-17.
Michael Finn scored four goals to lead the Monks.
Connor Trainor stopped 15 shots for St. Joes, while Chris Schaub stopped 11 for Salem State.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
AMHERST 11, BOWDOIN 6: Mary Grace Cronin had five goals and an assist to lift Amherst past the Polar Bears in the NESCAC opener for both teams in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Cronin had three goals in the first half, and Kate Wyeth added two as Amherst built a 7-1 halftime lead.
Megan O’Connor had two goals for the Polar Bears.
BATES 12, WESLEYAN 0: Hannah Jeffrey made 10 saves as the Bobcats (3-0, 1-0) recorded their first shutout since 2007 in a win over the Cardinals (0-1, 0-1) in Lewiston.
Moriah Greenstein scored five goals for Bates. Allison Dewey added two goals, while Alex Briody, Drew Barry, Camile Bellette, Emma Brinkman and Sydney Cowles each had one goal.
COLBY 10, HAMILTON 9: The 15th-ranked Mules scored seven straight goals to turn a 6-3 deficit into a 10-6 lead to pull away from the 13th-ranked Continentals in Clinton, New York.
Lexie Perticone had two goals and two assists for the Mules (1-0, 1-0 NESCAC), while Dana Swaffield added a pair of goals.
Margaret Gabriel had two goals and an assist for Hamilton (0-1, 0-1 NESCAC), while Morgan Fletcher added a pair of goals.
WELLESLEY COLLEGE 10, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 6: Mary Lemay and Lena Engbretson each scored three goals to lead the Blue (1-0) over the Nor’easters (2-1) in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Jocelyn Davee and Brooke Kelleher each scored twice, while Korinne Bohunsky and Paige St. George each added goals for the Nor’easters.
ST. JOSEPH’S 17, HUSSON 1: Elyse Caiazzo and Kelsey Dumond each scored five goals to lead the Monks (1-1) over the Eagles (0-1) in Portland.
Elizabeth Elcock added three goals for St. Joe’s.
Mariah Carrier scored the lone goal for Husson.
