SCARBOROUGH – Herman Jalbert, 90, of South Portland, passed away on Dec. 5, 2023, in Scarborough.

Herman was born in Caribou to Narsisse Jalbert and Odille Theriault Jalbert on May 20, 1933. He married Claudia May Beckwith on May 5, 1956, in Portland.

Herman worked as a carpenter and then for the South Portland Housing Authority. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served in the Marines.

He was involved in a Radio-Controlled Boat Club. Herman enjoyed camping, rides to New Hampshire, model building and puzzles.

Herman was predeceased by his wife, Claudia; and son-in-law, Ronald Sawyer.

Survivors include daughter, Theresa Jalbert Sawyer, son, Robert S. Jalbert and his wife Cheryl Jalbert; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
