Peter Filipovity had 19 points and eight rebounds to lift the University of Maine men’s basketball team to a 69-56 win over Central Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon in Orono.

Kristians Feierbergs added 14 points for the Black Bears, who improved to 8-4. Kellen Tynes finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Allan Jeanne-Rose scored 14 points and Jordan Jones had 12 for Central Connecticut State (3-6).

SOUTHERN MAINE 81, EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 59: Brady Saunders scored 23 points as the Huskies (5-4, 1-2 Little East) beat the Warriors (1-9, 0-3) in Gorham.

Chance Dixon added 15 points and Tommy Whelan finished with 14 for USM.

Dominick Dao had 13 points for Eastern Connecticut State.

VERMONT STATE-RANDOLPH 74, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 60: Luke Briggs made four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points as SMCC (7-4, 2-2 YSCC) lost to the Knights (9-3, 4-1) in South Portland.

BATES 99, COLBY 92: Jaelen Jackson drained a 3-pointer with 3:25 left in overtime to break a tie and give the Bobcats (2-8) the lead for good in their nonconference win over the Mules (6-5) in Lewiston.

Marc Begin II scored 38 points for Bates, while Elliott Cravitz chipped in with 15 points and Babacar Pouye 14.

Matthew Lamy scored 22 points and Max Poulton 21 for Colby.

ST. JOSEPH’S 83, REGIS 56:  Remijo Wani and Ashtyn Abbot scored 17 points apiece and the Monks (3-6, 1-1 GNAC) beat the host Pride (2-7, 0-2) at Weston, Massachusetts.

Wani Donato added 16 points and 11 rebounds for St. Joseph’s. John Paul Frazier scored 13 points.

(22) DUKE 80, CHARLOTTE 56: Jared McCain scored 14 of his season-high 21 points in the first half, and the Blue Devils (6-3) got rolling again following two losses and a week layoff, beating the 49ers (5-4) in Durham, North Carolina.

(16) INDIANA 66, RUTGERS 56: Mackenzie Holmes of Gorham scored 25 points, Sydney Parrish had a double-double and the Hoosiers (8-1) ran their winning streak to seven games with a win over the Scarlet Knights (6-6) in Piscataway, New Jersey in their Big Ten Conference opener.

The Hoosiers never trailed after Parrish and Chloe Moore-McNeil had layups in the first minute of the second quarter for a 13-10 lead. They didn’t reach double figures until Parish followed her 3-pointer with a layup to make it 45-34 with 2:50 left in the third quarter.

The Scarlet Knights trailed 49-41 entering the fourth quarter but couldn’t get closer than five on a layup by Destiny Adams that made it 51-46 at the 6:54 mark. Holmes and Yarden Garzon combined for eight Indiana points for a 12-point lead but again Rutgers came back, getting to 62-56 on a Kaylene Smikle layup at 48.7 seconds.

SOUTHERN MAINE 60, EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 58: Tamrah Gould made a layup with two seconds left to give the Huskies (4-6, 2-1 Little East) a win over the Warriors (3-6, 1-2) in Gorham.

Gould finished with 17 points. Tara Flanders added 15, Franny Ramsdell had 14, and Jade Smedberg finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Taylor Salato scored 19 points for Eastern Connecticut State.

MAINE 6, DARTMOUTH 3: Haley Ryan broke a scoreless tie with three straight goals in the second period, leading the Black Bears (9-8) to a win over the Big Green (3-12-1) at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

Alyssa Wruble made it 4-0 later in the second, and Mira Seregely and Ann-Frederique Guay each added an empty-net goal in the third after Dartmouth pulled its goalie several times in an attempt to overcome a three-goal deficit.
