Lucy Johnson posted two goals and an assist and Lily Johnson also scored twice, powering Cheverus to its 42nd consecutive regular-season field hockey victory, 7-0 over Windham at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.
Joey Pompeo, Zoey Radford and Sophia St. John each chipped in with a goal as Cheverus, the No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine top 10, improved to 10-0.
Olivia McPherson racked up 33 saves for Windham (4-6).
SCARBOROUGH 2, NOBLE 1: Caroline Hartley netted the winner in double overtime and Laine Niles finished with a goal and an assist as the Red Storm (5-6) edged the Knights (4-5) in Scarborough.
Red Storm goalie Jamila Mohamed recorded four saves.
Alyssa Plante scored for Noble and Trinity Valle made 13 saves.
FOOTBALL
CHEVERUS 46, GARDINER 6: Matt Baker rushed for four touchdowns as the Class C Stags (5-1) routed the Class B Tigers (4-2) at Deering High.
Baker scored three straight touchdowns in the second quarter, all from 2 yards or less, as Cheverus built a 19-0 lead. The first TD capped a drive that lasted nearly 10 minutes, and the second was set up by Preston Fallon’s blocked punt.
Gardiner’s Chase Burgess took a reverse 10 yards into the end zone on the final play of the first half, cutting the deficit to 19-6.
But Baker got his fourth touchdown on a 20-yard run in the third quarter, and the Stags turned three fourth-quarter interceptions into touchdowns – two by Joe Osei and one by Dominic Cortez.
MORSE 34, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 8: Braeden Cunningham rushed for three touchdowns as the Shipbuilders (5-1) beat the Falcons (2-4) in an eight-man Small School game at Bath.
Cunningham scored from 65 yards in the first quarter, from 4 yards in the second and from 6 yards in the third.
Calin Gould connected with Braylon Williams for a 16-yard touchdown pass that made it 22-0 just before halftime. Tyson Pinkham added a 2-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
BOYS’ SOCCER
CAPE ELIZABETH 5, WAYNFLETE 1: Sam Cochran and Rory O’Grady each scored twice to lead the Capers (7-3-1) past the Flyers (5-5-1) in Cape Elizabeth.
Tully Haydar also scored for Cape.
MT. ARARAT 5, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 2: Randall LaGrange scored the go-ahead goal during a four-goal first half by the Eagles (5-4-1) in a win over the Broncos (2-7-1) in Topsham.
Ethan Berry and Caleb Murphy each added a goal, and Ethan Palmer added the final two for Mt. Ararat. He converted a cross with 4.2 seconds left in the first half to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
POLAND 4, OAK HILL 0: Tihan Jones, Phoebe Paradis, Gretchyn Paradis and Olivia Austin scored and Jillian Barnes made four saves as the Knights (2-8-1) shut out the Raiders (1-9) in Poland.
Jones opened the scoring in the sixth minute on a breakaway after a through ball from Thea Thornton. After Phoebe Paradis made it 2-0 with a chip later in the first half, Gretchyn Paradis drove in a direct kick from 25 yards in the second half, and Austin added her first varsity goal.
VOLLEYBALL
YARMOUTH 3, YORK 2: Grace Keaney had 12 kills to lead the Clippers (6-3) over the Wildcats (5-7) in Yarmouth, 25-21, 25-21, 18-25, 22-25, 15-11.
