With regard to the Pine Tree Power proposal (Question 3 on Maine’s November ballot), it seems to me that on one hand, the expensive and extensive Central Maine Power-sponsored advertising blitz warns us that if the Pine Tree Power proposal passes, we would place the future of our lives, at least our availability to affordable electrical energy, in the hands of incompetent and bumbling Maine politicians – which will likely result in the end of civilized life in Maine as we now know it.

The updated CMP commercials include even that nice man who we have all come to know and trust, the one who has been for years warning us that a downed power line is not safe to touch, ever! Now he tells us we cannot accept this proposal, ever! And he tells us it is because it would place the electrical power responsibility in the hands of corrupt politicians.

On the other hand, our Maine politicians are urging us to vote against the proposal and accept corporate greed and passively accept CMP’s long history of unscrupulous billing processes.

Don’t figure. I’m confused, disillusioned and disappointed, but I’m not gullible. I’m voting in favor of the Pine Tree Power proposal. It could not possibly be worse.
