Whenever I want to understand a voting issue, I have a source who always amazes me. Recently, I had the opportunity to discuss 2024 voting with my “source.” His political beliefs are absolutely the opposite of mine on every issue. However, his past predictions about political outcomes have always been eerily accurate.
Among other issues we discussed was abortion and the ancillary outcomes of repealing Roe v. Wade as a 2024 election issue. My position is that the inflammatory outcomes generated by the repeal of Roe v. Wade are going to be the “albatross around the neck” of the right. His position is that the end of Roe v. Wade is a minor consideration for the right.
My source said over and over again that statistics show that women aged between 20 and 45 tend to be less motivated to vote, even when registered to vote. He said that why they don’t vote is not a consideration of worry for the right, and that the right wins because it can count on demographic groups that do vote for their candidates and, thus, for their issues.
In 2024, if women aged between 20 and 45 stay home, they, and we, will lose again. I hope his prediction is wrong, but he has history on his side. All I have on my side is hope.
