Robert Michael Poitras
WESTBROOK – Robert Michael Poitras, 82, died Tuesday June 13, 2023 at home in Westbrook, of natural causes, surrounded by his loved ones.
Robert was born Nov. 17, 1940 in Westbrook on Main Street to Joseph R. and Fernande T. LeBel Poitras. He spent his childhood in Westbrook attending local schools. He joined the Navy and spent the next 20 years traveling the globe.
While he was stationed in San Diego, Calif., he met his wife, Priscilla Ann Gimble. After a very quick courtship they married on July 2, 1960. They traveled to some really interesting places during their marriage. Bob, alone, went to Japan and Alaska, and together, they and their quickly growing family traveled to Australia and Guam and mostly the West Coast of California. They welcomed a son, Joseph Robert, in 1962 and a daughter, Robin Nadine, in 1964.
When Bob retired, he moved his family back to Maine and there they spent the rest of their lives. Bob and Priscilla “Pat” celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2010 and sadly, shortly thereafter, Pat past away. Bob was fortunate to find a new love in Patricia “Pat” Boucher and they were married on Sept. 9, 2011. Pat and Bob had some wonderful times celebrating new great-grandchildren, new grandchildren and marriages of their children and grandchildren. Along with trips to Florida and Aruba. Bob had a wonderful fulfilling life and lived it to the fullest.
He will be missed by his daughter, Robin and son-in-law Kevin; his wife, Patricia and her wonderful children and their families. He will truly be missed by his grandchildren Heather (John) Trodella, Megan (Andrew) Truchinskas and Michael (Chelsea) Walsh. He loved being the ultimate”GG Pepe” to Dominic, Parker, Cayleigh and Ryleigh Trodella, Connor Truchinskas and Eleanor, Regan and Tristan Walsh. He is also survived and will be missed by his sister, Sandra Rinaldi and brother, Rudy (Cathy) Poitras along with many nieces and nephews. He will always be loved by his special daughter, Theresa Franco.
He was predeceased in death by his son, Joseph; and parents Bob and Fern Poitras.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dolby Blais and Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A mass will be held at St Hyacinth Church, 268 Brown St., Westbrook on Tuesday June 20 at 11 a.m. On Friday June 23, a burial will occur at St Hyacinth Cemetery at 11 a.m.
