2023 Paddle Battle
Registration is now open for the Lakes Environmental Association’s sixth annual Maine Lakes Open Paddle Battle to take place from 8 a.m. to noon July 1 at Tarry A While Resort on Highland Lake. The event will have 2K and 5K courses for short boards and a 5K course for long boards and single kayaks. Races will have men’s and women’s categories in various age classes, as well as a kids’ race in the cove. There will also be a silent auction and a prize raffle. The number of participants is limited, so register early at mainelakes.org. Tarry A While Resort is located at 17 Tarry A While Road, across from the Highland Country Club on Highland Road. All proceeds from the Paddle Battle will benefit the LEA and its programs.
Community Center open house
The Bridgton Community Center will have an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 17, at 15 Depot St., behind Renys. The BCC is where many local organizations and groups hold regular meetings and classes, and it hosts community suppers and public service activities such as AARP income tax return filing assistance. It is also the place to go to learn about local and state services. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop in at the open house to see what the BCC has to offer.
July 4 parade to be a circus
Bridgton’s annual Fourth of July parade this year will follow the theme, “Under the Big Top. It’s Circus Time.” The parade is organized by the Bridgton Lions Club and it starts at noon. Floats will gather and be judged at 11:30 a.m. at the Hancock Lumber yard at 116 Portland Road; antique cars will gather at the Central Maine Power parking lot. New hours for town services
As of July 1, the Bridgton municipal office and transfer station will implement new operating hours. The municipal office will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be closed on Friday. Online services will still be available at bridgtonmaine.org. The transfer station will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday.
