Melissa Joan Penna

BIDDEFORD – Melissa Joan Penna, 55, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford.

She was born in Saco on July 9, 1967, a daughter of Larry and Susan (MacDonald) Penna. She graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1985.

Melissa was employed at Symmes Hospital in Arlington, Massachusetts handling staff scheduling for several years.

Melissa’s caring and generous nature led her to be a caregiver for her grandparents, father and other family members when the need arose.

She was very creative and worked as both an artist and commercial painter for many years. Her artwork is cherished by family and friends today.

Most of all, Lissa loved her family and the time they spent together.

She loved animals, cooking, fishing, and camping.

She was predeceased by her father Larry Penna, stepfather L. Philip Bernier, and two half-brothers Thomas Penna and Ralph Penna.

She is survived by her mother Susan (MacDonald) Penna Bernier, daughter Lily LaCasse, siblings Beth Poitras, Michael Penna, Steven Penna, Billy Penna, and Tricia Smith. She is also survived by her boyfriend Jay and seven stepsiblings, Therese, Lori Anne, Kathi, Rod, Jimmy, Deb and Danny. She will also be remembered by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a loving extended family.
