Peter Monro’s Feb. 26 op-ed is certainly correct that, locally, we have done well – and that national action is needed.

However, he does exactly nothing except wag his finger. I would ask Mr. Monro what exactly he is doing on a national level to advocate for climate change. One reason we are effective locally is that we are not tilting at windmills in all directions; we are all generally pulling in the same direction.

Mr. Monro should point to new measures that have more than a snowball’s chance in the fractured Congress where do-nothing Republicans hold sway. The Inflation Reduction Act went about as far as Congress is willing to go, I believe.
