Matthew McHatten

MMG Insurance Co. has appointed Matthew McHatten as president and CEO, succeeding Larry Shaw, who retired at the end of 2022 after serving in that role for 28 years. McHatten joined the Presque Isle-based property and casualty insurer in 2001, and most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He previously held the roles of senior vice president of external operations, vice president of marketing and marketing director. In addition, he worked for Key Bank’s Corporate Banking Division as a vice president and relationship manager. McHatten holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and finance from the University of Maine and serves with numerous boards, professional groups and civic organizations. They include the University of Maine Business School Advisory Board.

Seven senior executives at R.M. Davis have been promoted to officers of the private wealth management firm, headquartered in Portland. The new officers are: Dean Walker, chief operating officer; George Carr, managing director, portfolio management; Vince Damasco, managing director, investment research; Bob Davis, managing director, portfolio management; Natalie Solotoff, managing director, wealth management; Michele Whitmore, managing director, client service; and Drew Blaney, vice president, finance. In addition, several officers who were previously promoted have also received managing director titles: Hugh Judge, managing director, portfolio management; Dana Mitiguy, managing director, portfolio management; and Denise Vigneault, managing director, human resources.

Douglas Morrison has been promoted to vice president of New England operations at Sargent Corp., an employee-owned contracting company based in Orono. Beginning as a junior foreman over 20 years ago, Morrison has held various positions at Sargent, including project manager and mid-Atlantic regional manager. He also helped launch the company’s asphalt business. Morrison holds an engineering degree from the University of Maine.

Dream Local Digital, a Thomaston digital marketing agency, has promoted five employees to new positions, overseeing both internal and external operations. Kasey Welch Ahlquist was promoted to chief marketing officer; Amber K. Anderson, chief operating officer; Alexx Chase, digital production manager; Mary Allen, assistant digital production manager; and Kaye Nisbet, digital marketing manager.

The Jackson Laboratory has named Gina Rodriguez as vice president of advancement. With over 20 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, Rodriguez will lead a team supporting the Bar Harbor-based laboratory’s philanthropic efforts to improve human health. She joins JAX from the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, where she served as Shedd’s first chief development officer, overseeing development programs and leading the growth of financial support. Earlier, Rodriguez served as chief advancement officer for the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago, where she led strategy for the completion of the school’s multimillion-dollar capital and endowment campaign. Rodriguez graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with a bachelor of arts degree in French literature and a minor in computer science.

RECOGNITIONS

Robin Hodgskin, a senior vice president and financial adviser in the Portland wealth management office of Morgan Stanley, has been named to Forbes Magazine’s list of the “Top Women Wealth Advisers for 2023.” The list comprises wealth advisers who have been selected by Forbes and its research partners, rating thousands of wealth advisers nationwide on the basis of factors such as industry experience, compliance and best practices.

The city of South Portland has named ShipRight as its 2023 Business of the Year, an award presented to a company with 25 or more employees that has most improved and strengthened the local business community. ShipRight, founded in 2000, provides a range of logistics services, including order fulfillment, contact center operations and final-mile delivery. The company is headquartered at 165 Pleasant Ave. and has an office at 159 Cash St., as well as a branch in New Hampshire.
