Sierra Carson scored 11 second-half points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Oxford Hills to a 48-44 win at Brunswick in a battle of two of the state’s top girls’ basketball teams Monday night.
Brunswick (15-2) took a quick 7-2 lead but Oxford Hills (16-1) rallied to tie it 10-10 after one quarter.
The Vikings, who made just 1 of their first 10 3-point attempts, then got late 3s from Gabbie Tibbetts and Molly Corbett to take a 19-15 lead at halftime.
Oxford Hills went up by 12 in the third quarter, but the Dragons rallied within 32-24 heading for the fourth. Alexis Morin made a layup with 2:17 to go, giving the Vikings a 43-42 lead.
Corbett (14 points) hit a 3-pointer and after Kelsie Carlton drove for a layup to make it 46-44, Ella Pelletier (eight points) hit two clutch free throws to clinch it.
Carson finished with a game-high 15 points.
Brunswick was led by Dakota Shipley and Maddy Werner, who had 10 points apiece.
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 74, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 25: Sarah English had 19 points for the Panthers (16-1) as they used a 31-3 third quarter to pull away from the Mustangs (11-5) at Monmouth.
Graca Bila had 18 points, Ella Giguere chipped in with 13 and Madilyn Onorato added 10.
SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 48, ST. DOMINIC 33: Breckyn Winship scored 28 points and pulled down 17 boards for the Guardians (8-9) as they topped the Saints (2-15) at Eliot.
Ellie Odess had eight points, all in the first half, and had five steals.
Charli Apodaca had four 3-pointers for St. Dominic and finished with 18 points.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 60, HALL-DALE 49: The Seagulls overcame a rough first quarter by outscoring the Bulldogs in each of the next three to claim the win in Farmingdale.
Elise MacNair scored 36 points to lead Old Orchard Beach, and Sarah Davis added 16. The Seagulls concluded the regular season at 15-3.
Hayden Madore scored a team-high 19 points for Hall-Dale (13-4). The Bulldogs also got 14 points from Amanda Trepanier.
YORK 40, TRAIP ACADEMY 35: Nya Avery scored 16 points and McKayla Kortes added 14 as the Wildcats (7-10) held off the Rangers (8-9) in York.
Emme Hale and Hannah Thorsen each had 14 points for Traip.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
WAYNFLETE 60, POLAND 42: Nico Kirby had 14 points to pace the Flyers (11-6) as they grabbed a 16-8 lead after one quarter and pulled away from the Knights (4-13) at Portland.
Cole Isherwood scored 12 points for Waynflete and Connor Ford added 10.
John Paenaude led Poland with 19 points.
GREELY 52, FREEPORT 48: The Rangers (10-7) led by 12 points in the third quarter but needed to hold off a late charge by the Falcons (4-13) at Cumberland.
JT Pound hit a bucket for Freeport to cut the lead to 49-48 with about 30 seconds to play in regulation, but Seamus Raftice sealed the contest for Greely with a pair of free throws in the final seconds.
Faftice finished with 20 points for the Rangers, and Tyler Pettengill added 16.
Pound led Freeport with 16 points, and Connor Smith had 15.
YORK 89, TRAIP ACADEMY 31: Derek Parson scored 25 points as the Wildcats (9-8) handled the Rangers (6-11) in Kittery.
Jacob Fogg and Haydn Forbes each finished with 14 points, and Lukas Bouchard had eight points with 12 rebounds.
Nick Martine had eight points and Ben Hawkes had seven points for Traip.
YARMOUTH 67, WELLS 60: Stephen Walsh had 24 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Clippers (13-4) as they took a 51-39 lead after three quarters and held off a late charge from the Warriors (5-12) at Wells.
Evan Hamm added 12 points for Yarmouth, and Nate Hagedorn chipped in with 10.
Caden Dufort paced Wells with 20 points, with Eli Roy scoring 14.
ST. DOMINIC 59, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 36: Taylor Varney led the Saints (7-10) as they hit nine 3-pointers in beating the Guardians (6-11) at Eliot.
Isaac Yombe had 12 points for St. Dominic.
Sunny Johnson led Seacoast Christian with 14 points.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 76, HALL-DALE 40: Brady Croteau and Landen Johnson each had 12 first-half points, as the Seagulls (16-2) finished their regular season by beating the Bulldogs (6-9) at Old Orchard Beach.
Both players finished with 20 points for Old Orchard Beach, and James Erickson added 10.
Carter Bourque and TJ Wilson had nine points apiece for Hall-Dale.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 49, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 26: The Mustangs (14-3) rallied with a 15-5 second quarter to take a 19-13 halftime lead and cruised past the Panthers (5-12) at Yarmouth.
Sammy Calder contributed 17 points for Monmouth Academy, and Gavin Gregor had 15.
Moses Semuhoza had 10 points to lead NYA.
