Coffee and conversation for veterans
The next veterans’ coffee session will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.
Westbrook’s Veteran’s Service Officer Arty Ledoux will update veterans on various issues affecting them.
Partners for World Health to speak at Woman’s Club
Elizabeth McLellan, founder and chief executive office of Partners for World Health, will be the featured speaker next week at a meeting of the Westbrook Woman’s Club.
The club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the Spruce Room at Westbrook Community Center.
Guests and new members are always welcome and refreshments are served following the meeting.
Housing coalition to meet
The Westbrook Community Housing Coalition will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at First Baptist Church, 733 Main St.
The coalition is comprised of citizens, elected officials, clergy and agencies who seek to find shelters for homeless.

The American Journal reported on Feb. 7, 1973, in the Westbrook column that the office of H&R Block requested an ambulance for a man who passed out there. The headline read, “High Price of Taxes.”
