David Roy Glass

NORTH PORT, Fla. – David Roy Glass, 66, of North Port, Florida passed away on November 30, 2022, surrounded by family after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. David was born on September 27, 1956 in Meriden, Conn.; the son of Donald and Doris Glass. His childhood was spent living in both Calais and Farmington, Maine.

David’s favorite memories from adolescence were times spent at his grandparents’ farm in Rollingdam, New Brunswick. He would often tell stories of helping his grandfather pull logs with horse teams and raking blueberries in the fall. After graduating from Calais Memorial High School in 1974, he joined the Navy. He attended basic training and A School in Great Lakes, Illinois, and was ultimately stationed at Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico for three years as an Electronics Technician. Following his time in the Navy, David attended and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent the remainder of his professional career as an Electrical Engineer in Bath ME, both at BIW and most recently with the Department of Defense “Sup Ship”. David loved the woods, the water, and most especially his family. He shared his passion for hunting and fishing with family and friends both at his beloved Ridge Association camp in Sangerville, Maine, and the North Maine Woods. He also enjoyed a day at the lake on his boat or an afternoon cruising the coast in his cherished Corvette. Dave’s other lifelong passion was golf. When he wasn’t preoccupied with other hobbies, he could be found at the golf course, or possibly the 19th hole sharing a story with friends.

David is survived by his sons Ryan Glass of Topsham; Brendan Glass and partner Haley LaGrange of Carmel; his sisters, Sharon Lewis of Charlotte, and Joyce Bailey-Walton of Calais, and nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Doris and Donald Glass, formerly of Calais.

The family would like to thank Chans Hospice and numerous others for their support during David’s final months.
