Miriam Price Patten 1932 – 2022 TOPSHAM – Miriam Price Patten was born in Morristown, NJ on April 2, 1932, to parents Harold A. Price and Elizabeth R. Price. She left New Jersey for the wilds of Maine, graduating from Colby College in 1953. She adored her time at Colby and continued to attend reunions until just before her death. It was during her time at Colby that Mimi met the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Amory (Pat) Patten. They fell in love at first sight during a meeting in 1952 and married soon after in 1953. Mimi and Pat built a loving home with their three children Elizabeth, Barbara and Bryant. They settled in Wellesley, Massachusetts for much of Pat’s career, before eventually retiring to South Harpswell, Maine. Mimi was loved by all for her graciousness and generosity as a hostess. She provided a warm welcome not only to her family but also to friends and neighbors. Mimi and Pat’s home was a place of comfort, enjoyment and refuge to all, no matter how they came to arrive there. She remembered everyone’s special dates and her mental database of birthdays and anniversaries was legendary – extending to birthdays and anniversaries of friends’ children and grandchildren. She, along with her warm wishes and cards, will be missed by many. Mimi loved books and word games of all kinds. She was a devoted library patron (the window in her wallet where most people put their ID had her library card for efficient book checkout) and an avid puzzler. She always did the daily crosswords – in pen – and in later years loved Wordle – often completing the puzzle in 3 tries. She will be remembered by those closest to her for her loving support, her interest and delight in hearing about their lives and “adventures” and her wonderful sense of humor. Although in many ways Mimi was often a “traditional” wife and mother, she had a strength and independent streak that her children and grandchildren admired. She formed her own political opinions and made sure to vote based on the issues she most cared about. She felt strongly about women having financial literacy and independence and she relied upon good manners and decorum as a bedrock of how she lived. Mimi is survived by her brother Charlton Price; her three children and their spouses, Elizabeth and her husband Michael Boucher, Barbara and her husband Doug Maffucci, Bryant and his wife Tammie; her grandchildren and spouses, Enrica Rowse and her husband Mike, Tyler Boucher and his wife Jessie, Tessa Maffucci and her husband Jay Geary, Miles Boucher and his wife Mary Robinson, Eleanor Patten and Ross Patten; and three great grandchildren, Nico and Ollie Boucher and Francesca Geary. A service of remembrance will be held for family and close friends in the summer of 2023. In Mimi’s memory, a donation to your local public library would be welcomed
