Funds are now available for two Harpswell high school seniors to receive the Working Waterfront Science Scholarship from Harpswell-based Quahog Bay Conservancy.
QBC is a nonprofit organization focused on the rehabilitation of the marine ecosystems in Quahog Bay. Through various programs, QBC aims to conserve natural habitat, protect native wildlife, foster environmental stewards and support Maine’s working waterfront.
Two $5,000 scholarships are open to 12th graders who are looking to pursue a career in marine biology, marine science, environmental science, marine entrepreneurship, oceanography, aquaculture and aquarium science, fisheries science, ecology, chemistry, marine engineering, civil engineering and marine systems engineering, etc.
Applicants must be resident of Harpswell with a 3.0 or higher grade-point average and plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. For more information and to download the application, visit quahogbay.org/take-action/#education.
