If I’m not paying close attention when a political ad arrives on my TV screen, I think I’m hearing actual news. This is why I think television news networks, at least the respectable ones, should no longer accept political candidates’ ads with all their lies, innuendo and nastiness.
These ads do nothing for the credibility of the network. They don’t do much for the candidates either, and campaign budgets would be more reasonable if the candidates did not have to create TV ads.
