Jaelen Jackson ran for 254 yards and three touchdowns and passed for another score Saturday morning on his 18th birthday, leading South Portland to a 27-7 football win at Scarborough.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jackson broke away for a 73-yard touchdown run to give the Red Riots (5-2) the lead. Scarborough (4-3) answered with a 15-yard pass from De’Angelo Alston to Tom Hassett, but just before halftime, Jackson’s 1-yard TD run put South Portland ahead to stay.
Jackson added a 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, then hit Nolan Hobbs for a 12-yard score in the fourth.
Scarborough’s Alston finished with 198 passing yards but was picked off twice.
LEAVITT 41, CHEVERUS 13: The Hornets (7-0) scored on every first half possession, opened up a 41-0 halftime lead and defeated the Stags (5-2) in a Class C South showdown.
Leavitt opened the scoring with a 33-yard pass from Noah Carpenter to Sawyer Hathaway. Before the first quarter was complete, Carpenter scored on runs of 28 and 2 yards to make it 20-0.
In the second quarter, Carpenter and Hathaway connected again from 16 yards out. Then, after Brett Coburn returned an interception 45 yards for a score, Nick Morin’s 2-yard scamper pushed Leavitt’s lead to 41 points.
The Stags (5-2) got on the board on Rilan Smith’s 2-yard run in the third quarter. Joe Osei scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth.
Carpenter completed 5 of 7 passes for 136 yards.
Smith finished with 85 yards rushing for Cheverus.
YARMOUTH 68, ELLSWORTH/SUMNER 0: Spencer LaBrecque rushed for four touchdowns – three in the first quarter – and Michael McGonagle became Yarmouth’s single-season rushing leader as the Clippers (7-0) thrashed the Eagles (1-5) in Yarmouth.
Sam Bradford added two touchdown passes, a rushing TD and four conversion passes, including three to McGonagle. McGonagle also ran for a score and eclipsed Anders Overhaug’s school record of 1,723 rushing yards, set in 2011.
Bradford was 11 of 12 passing for 149 yards, and ran 65 yards for a TD. LaBrecque’s scoring runs were 10, 25, 4 and 60 yards.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 48, TELSTAR 6: Brady Plante threw four touchdown passes and ran for a score as the Seagulls (5-2) handled the Rebels (3-4) in Old Orchard Beach.
Plante threw TD passes of 60 and 70 yards to Riley Provencher, a 45-yarder to Wesley Gallant and a 27-yarder to Brady Croteau. Plante added a 9-yard scoring run.
Plante also completed conversion passes to Richard Delisle and Gallant, who rushed for another conversion.
Grae MacNair had a 3-yard touchdown run and Elijah Vasquez scored from the 2.
BOYS’ SOCCER
WESTBROOK 2, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Ryan Stone had a goal and an assist following two long throw-ins, and the Blue Blazes (4-6-3) upset the Red Riots (10-4) in Westbrook.
A throw-in by Stone from the left sideline went off keeper Thomas Caouette’s hands and into the net in the opening minutes.
Hamza Nabi headed in a Stone throw-in with just a few minutes remaining.
Jason McCarthy made nine saves for the shutout, including a point-blank kick save when the Blue Blazes held a one-goal lead.
Caouette stopped seven shots.
GORHAM 3, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Cole Bishop scored twice and Peter Wu converted a penalty kick as the Rams (11-2-1) downed the Golden Trojans (6-6-1) in Gorham.
KENNEBUNK 2, BIDDEFORD 1: Timmy Teguis and Drew Sliwkowski scored as the Rams (6-5-2) downed the Tigers (2-12) in Biddeford.
Cooper Thompson and Luke Tomasulo each had an assist.
Callum Labonte made 10 saves for Biddeford, and scored the Tigers’ only goal with eight seconds remaining.
WAYNFLETE 6, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Myles Culley scored three more goals, raising his season total to 34, as the Flyers (11-1-1) defeated the Hawks (3-10) in Hiram.
Nils Burton-Johanson, Liam Anderson and Jacob Woodman also scored for Waynflete. Bryan Stark-Chessa had three assists.
Jonah Naratil converted a penalty kick for Sacopee. Ryan Leighton made 10 saves.
SANFORD 10, MASSABESIC 0: Joel Morrison scored five goals to pace the Spartans (2-11-1) past the Mustangs (0-13) in Waterboro.
Cole Adawadkar chipped in with two goals. Shawn Puffer, Brady Taylor and Kyle Demers also scored.
CAPE ELIZABETH 4, YORK 0: Philip Coupe, Grant Kelley, Sebastian Moon and Abu Shir tallied a goal apiece as the Capers (12-0-1) defeated the Wildcats (4-7-2) in Cape Elizabeth.
YARMOUTH 3, GREELY 0: Ben Flowerdew scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Clippers (10-1-2) past the Rangers (6-6-1) in Yarmouth.
Flowerdew set up Zach Turkel in the 11th minute, and the Clippers held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
After Justin Dawes scored unassisted early in the second half, Flowerdew finished a feed from Zacarias Binda.
Yarmouth keeper Ian O’Connor saved the only shot he faced. Greely’s Landon Dominski made nine saves.
MARSHWOOD 1, FALMOUTH 0: Rowan Carter scored for the Hawks (11-2) with an assist from Graham Pruyne as they beat the Navigators (7-5-1) in Falmouth.
Marshwood keeper Andrew Perry made six saves. Caden Berry had three saves for Falmouth.
GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN WINS TWICE: Papa Osei scored four goals across two games as the Lions (6-6) swept a doubleheader against Vinalhaven (0-10), winning 12-1 and 8-0 at Vinalhaven.
Isaiah Irish added three goals. Nicholas Boyce and Kaden Patterson each scored twice.
Parker Dickinson scored for Vinalhaven.

YARMOUTH 2, GREELY 0: Aine Powers and Ava Feeley scored first-half goals for the Clippers (10-3) against the Rangers (8-4-1) in Cumberland.
Neena Panozzo earned an assist on Feeley’s goal.
KENNEBUNK 1, BIDDEFORD 0: Anna McCarron’s second-half goal held up for the Rams (3-9-1) against the Tigers (1-12) in Kennebunk.
WINDHAM 8, NOBLE 0: Abbey Thornton recorded three goals and four assists as the Eagles (11-2) cruised past the Knights (4-9) in North Berwick.
Liz Levesque scored twice, and Kyla Harvie, Emily Talbot and Liz Talbot each added a goal.
Chloe Comtois made 14 saves for Noble.

MT. ARARAT 2, OXFORD HILLS 0: Julianna Allen scored in each half and the Eagles (9-3-1) blanked the Vikings (8-5) in Topsham.

CAPE ELIZABETH 5, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/NYA 0: Grace Gray scored four goals as the Capers (11-2) cruised to a win over the Patriots (3-9-2) in Cape Elizabeth.
Abbie Homicz also scored. Kaitlyn McIntyre had two assists.
FREEPORT 5, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Emily Groves and Chloe White each tallied two goals for the Falcons (10-3-1) as they beat the Raiders (5-9) in Fryeburg.
Sophia Bradford was the other goal scorer. Piper Williams made eight saves for the shutout.
Fryeburg’s Rayna Wales turned away 15 shots.
LAKE REGION 2, POLAND 0: Kasey Johnson netted both goals for the Lakers (5-7-1) in a win over the Knights (3-11) at Naples.
Mia Letarte and Mallory Smith were each credited with an assist, and Reiyn Hart earned the shutout with nine saves.
Poland goalie Addison Michaud made four saves.
VOLLEYBALL
GREELY 3, MESSALONSKEE 1: Olivia Talley had 18 kills, eight digs and a block, and Sophia Ippolito recorded 10 digs and 34 assists to help the Rangers (9-5) beat the Eagles (10-3) in four close sets in Cumberland, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23 and 25-22.
Greely also got 22 digs and four aces from Lilly Dube, and six kills, four aces and eight digs from Molly Mulligan.
