NEW HIRES
The Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce has hired Eric Belley as its new president and CEO. Selected after a nationwide search, he fills the position vacated by Tom Peaco in June. Belley has served as a business development officer for several community banks in the Camden-Rockland region over a span of nearly 20 years. In addition, he has chaired the Knox Waldo Regional Economic Development Council and served as treasurer of United Midcoast Charities. The chamber of commerce represents businesses in the Camden-Rockland region, encompassing 27 municipalities in and around Knox County.
Theresa “Tess” Coate has joined OceanView at Falmouth as the retirement community’s director of wellness. Coate, a registered nurse, previously worked on a traveling basis at hospital intensive care units across New England. She also worked as a nursing supervisor at a local hospital and previously as a 911 dispatcher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Rhode Island College.
Lucie Hannigan has joined Machias Savings Bank as senior vice president, cash management relationship manager, based in the bank’s Portland office. She brings to her role over 25 years of experience in the Maine market, and most recently worked as the director of business banking at Northeast Bank. She is a member of the Association for Financial Professionals and the Maine Government Finance Officers Association and is a certified treasury professional.
Massachusetts engineering firm GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. has named Rania Campbell-Bussiere as senior grant specialist, supporting clients in securing federal infrastructure funds for a wide range of projects. Based in GZA’s Portland office, Campbell-Bussiere has more than a decade of experience in grant writing and nonprofit development. She earned a master’s degree from Goddard College and a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College.
Leo Tuttle has joined Kennebunk Beach Realty as a broker. Prior to joining the firm, Tuttle had served real estate buyers and sellers in upstate New York for over 20 years.
Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty has hired Colin Harvey of Boothbay as a broker in the firm’s Damariscotta office. Harvey is a graduate of Gorham High School and attended the University of Maine, where he studied business marketing, management and kinesiology.
PROMOTIONS
The Maine Municipal Association has promoted Rebecca McMahon to director of legal services. McMahon began her career at MMA in 2016 as a staff attorney, providing legal advisory services to member municipalities, and gained expertise in areas such as cannabis law, land use regulations and municipal governance. Previously, she served as general counsel for the Yurok Tribe in Klamath, California. A Kennebunkport native, McMahon graduated from the University of Maine School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Maine, Massachusetts and California.
RECOGNITIONS
The Safeco Insurance Award of Excellence has been presented to Jennifer Coffin, a personal insurance account executive with Allen Insurance and Financial, and to Mindy Maheu and Martha Wentworth, of GHM Insurance. The award recognizes superior underwriting skill in agents throughout the country who sell Safeco Insurance. Fewer than 10 percent of agencies that sell Safeco have agents who have received the award.
A total of six attorneys from Portland law firm Murray Plumb & Murray have been recognized by rating service Super Lawyers. The following have been selected to the 2022 Maine Super Lawyers list: Kelly McDonald, in business litigation; Richard O’Meara, in school and education law; and Michael Traister, in business litigation. Three attorneys were also named to the 2022 Maine Rising Stars list, recognizing attorneys who are 40 years or younger or have been in practice for no more than 10 years. The Rising Stars are Nicholas Bernate, in civil litigation; Sage Friedman, in business/corporate law; and Ali Tozier, in employment litigation.
Two Portland architectural firms – Caleb Johnson Studio and Simons Architects – received awards for design excellence from the New England Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Caleb Johnson Studio received an award for a residential project, Pieri Pines, in Otisfield. Simons Architects received an award for commercial work at Waynflete Lower School, in Portland. Submissions for the AIA New England Design Awards program were juried by a group of nationally recognized architects.
