Author to speak on ‘Equal Rights Amendment Past and Present’
Anne Gass of Gray will discuss her book “There’s Nothing Complicated about Equality: The Equal Rights Amendment Past and Present” at the Windham Historical Society at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Little Meetinghouse, 719 Roosevelt Trail in North Windham.
Gass also authored “Voting Down the Rose: Florence Brooks Whitehouse and Maine’s Fight for Woman Suffrage” and the historical fiction novel “We Demand,” based upon an actual cross-country road trip by a group of suffragettes. She is a captivating speaker who has given talks for the historical society in the past that have been very well received. The program is offered free of charge but donations are always welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
Poetry, photo presentation
Carlson
Maine author Sarah Carlson will share a selection of poetry and photos from her newest book, “In the Currents of Quiet,” from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Windham Public Library.

Entertainment tonight?

Save the date
The Windham Veterans Association will hold its annual membership meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Windham Veterans Center. Members will vote on issues of interest and select officers for the coming year, including president, vice president, secretary and finance officer.
It is required that members – which includes all those in the Windham VFW and Legion Post – are given a month’s notice in the hopes more eligible voters will attend the meeting.
The Veterans Association is the owner of the Windham Veterans Center and its grounds and is responsible for all maintenance. The association recently authorized sealing and striping the parking lot and entrance road and also expanded the parking area by approximately 50 feet in two directions. With community support, the WVA hopes to continue providing quality services for all Windham veterans for many years to come.
