Judith D. Lappin
SOUTH PORTLAND – Judith D. Lappin, 78, of South Portland, died Sunday Feb. 20, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Portland April 13, 1943, the daughter of Dorothy Hammett. Judy grew up in Portland and attended Portland High School. She was a librarian at the Portland Public Library for 37 years, retiring in 2017.
When she wasn’t working, Judy enjoyed reading, acting and listening to music, especially her favorites like Billy Joel and Barbara Streisand.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, James B. Lappin; and two sons, Karl Paschal and Sean Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her daughter, Lindsay Ornelas and her husband Ernesto of Gorham, her son, Matthew Fitzgerald and his wife Michelle of Mathews, N.C.; her grandchildren, Sofia and Maya Ornelas and Ryan, Shaelyn and Kylie Fitzgerald; and her beloved dog, “Angus”.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel.
