Flavors of Freeport runs the entire month of February with tastings and games throughout town.
Try participating in the Freeport Foodie Lotto. Here’s how it works: Twenty food and food-related businesses are offering special products for sale during the month. Spending $10 or more at one of these establishments will earn a Freeport Foodie Stamp. I sampled one of the special food items from Nighthawk’s Kitchen at 200 Lower Main St. – a delightfully creamy and rich Basque-style Cheesecake with Local Blueberry Compote. This was an extraordinary treat.

Place stamps on the game piece over the matching business name. Each line across or down equals one entry. Game pieces are available at participating locations, the Visit Freeport Center and online at visitfreeport.com.
At the end of the month, mail or hand-deliver the game piece to the Visit Freeport Information Center at 115 Main St., 04032. A drawing will be held on March 10 for a chance to win $1,000 cash or various gift cards.
New this year is the Frosty Food Truck Frolic from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19. There will be a large array of food purveyors, food trucks and live music at the Freeport Historical Society’s Harrington House courtyard and in the parking lot behind the property at 45 Main St.

Wine Wise Events is hosting an Italian Wine Dinner at the Falmouth Country Club, 1 Congressional Drive, at 6 p.m. March 10. The dinner is being planned by Executive Chef Owen Price with wine selections by Sommelier Erica Archer. Tickets are $150/guest including wine, food, tax and gratuity, and are available at winewiseevents.com.
Main Street Bath’s Winterfest is Feb. 25-27 throughout Bath’s historic downtown. There will be lots of food, drink and children’s activities, so check the schedule at visitbath.com/winterfest.
The Black Tie Company’s Graze at Pineland Farms schedule is now available: June 17, July 15, Aug. 12 and Sept. 30. Each dinner will include four courses paired with local craft beverages. Dinners are $90/guest and are available at eventbrite.com. 16 Pineland Drive, New Gloucester.
Merrymeeting Adult Education has four new cooking classes for the spring: Feb. 17, Scones, $45; Feb. 17, Sourdough, $40; March 1, Sugar Easter Eggs, $65; and May 1, Pies and Tarts, $45. Classes may run for several weeks and are held at Brunswick High School. Preregistration is required at merrymeeting.maineadulted.org.
Maine Restaurant Week is coming March 1-12. Each restaurant may support the special offerings in different ways, so check the list of participants often at mainerestaurantweek.com/restaurants. Spirit Quest is back on March 6. “Spirit Quest is a self-guided cocktail and paired bites walking tour that takes participants to Old Port and Congress Street Arts District restaurants and bars,” according to the website. Tickets are $55/person, plus a $3 ticket fee on the website. Participating locations are kept secret until the week before to add to the excitement.
