VESTAL, N.Y. — The UMaine women’s basketball team held a fourth straight opponent to 45 points or less and picked up its fourth consecutive victory Friday night – 54-45 against Binghamton.

Anne Simon scored 17 points, and Maeve Carroll had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Black Bears (10-10, 7-3 America East).

Denai Bowman led Binghamton (5-13, 1-7) with 21 points.

HAMILTON 59, COLBY 55: Claire Sehring scored seven of her team’s last eight points, including a tiebreaking layup with just under five minutes remaining, and the Continentals (9-10, 2-5 NESCAC) beat the Mules (9-7, 1-6) in Waterville.

Sehring finished with 22 points. Carter McGloon led Colby with 14 points, and Caroline Smith and Chiamaka Ubani each scored 10.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 63, BATES 50: Jaycie Rojik scored 19 points to lead the Camels (4-14, 2-5 NESCAC) past the Bobcats (11-4, 3-2 NESCAC) at New London, Connecticut.

Mia Roy scored 20 points for Bates. Morgan Kennedy had eight points and nine rebounds.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

BATES 74, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 68: Simon McCormick scored 25 points as the Bobcats (8-8, 2-5 NESCAC) rallied to defeat the Camels (8-8, 2-4) at Lewiston.

Stephon Baxter added 15 points and Jahmir Primer had 11 for Bates, which trailed 41-33 at halftime.

HAMILTON 66, COLBY 54: Conner Rood scored 21 points and Liam Regan added 15 as the Continentals (12-9, 4-3 NESCAC) cruised to a win over the Mules (11-9, 3-4) at Clinton, New York.

Matt Hanna led Colby with 11 points and five assists.

UCLA: Mac Etienne, a redshirt freshman forward, was arrested and cited on suspicion of misdemeanor assault after appearing to spit toward a fan after the Bruins lost a road game to Pac-12 rival Arizona, a University of Arizona police spokesman said.

The alleged incident occurred Thursday night as UCLA players left the McKale Center playing floor and entered a tunnel to go to their locker room, said the spokesman, Officer Jesus Aguilar.

Etienne was allowed to go to the locker room and was then arrested, cited and released, Aguilar said.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BOSTON UNIVERSITY 4, MAINE 0: Logan Cockerill and Wilmer Skoog scored in the first period, and Robert Mastrosimone added two second-period goals as the Terriers (14-10-3, 10-6-3 Hockey East) shut out the Black Bears (4-15-4, 2-11-2) in Orono.

Vinny Duplessis stopped 27 shots for the shutout. Maine’s Victor Ostman made 35 saves.

HAMILTON 2, BOWDOIN 1: Grisha Gotovets scored from Scott McKenzie exactly one minute into overtime to lift the Continentals (7-7, 6-6 NESCAC) over the Polar Bears (5-7-4, 5-5-3) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin’s Chris Brown tied the game early in the third period after Cade Groton gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead in the first.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

VERMONT 2, MAINE 1: Theresa Schafzahl scored in the first period and Ellice Murphy in the third as the Catamounts (18-9-2, 15-6-1 Hockey East) defeated the Black Bears (12-14-1, 10-9-1) at Orono.

Ida Kuoppala scored for Maine from Ali Beltz and Ida Press with 1:11 remaining.

Vermont, which has won eight straight, snapped Maine’s six-game winning streak, which started after a 3-0 road loss to the Catamounts on Jan. 2. Other than the two losses to Vermont, the Black Bears haven’t lost since Dec. 4.

COLBY 5, HAMILTON 4: Jillian Mazzocca’s overtime goal lifted the Mules (12-3, 8-3 NESCAC) to a win over the Continentals (8-7, 5-6) in Clinton, New York.

Meg Rittenhouse, Colleen Donoghue, Anna Staton and McKinley Karpa also scored for Colby, which rallied from a 3-1 deficit.
