Your jaw will be on the floor for the entire night, but you’ll also be smiling wide. The legendary Harlem Globetrotters will be bringing their breathtaking basketball skills to Portland for an exhilarating night of nonstop action that’s part of their Spread Game Tour. The Globetrotters came to be almost a century ago, and their signature song is still “Sweet Georgia Brown.”

2022 Winter & Spring Exhibits

Feast your eyes on a quartet of new exhibits at Rockland’s Center for Maine Contemporary Art. As you roam the rooms, you’ll encounter Nicola López’s “Visions, Phantoms, and Apparitions,” Chris Doyle’s “The Fabricators,” and Young Sun Han’s “Passages From a Memoir + Tourist in the Dark.” You’ll also see the works of eight Maine and Maine-connected artists, collectively called “Walk the Line,” featuring a range of mediums including printmaking, photography and sculpture from Paolo Arao, Grace DeGennaro, Clint Fulkerson, John Houck, Jennie C. Jones, Jeff Kellar, Paula McCartney and Will Sears.

Looking for some unscripted snickers in Sanford? “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical” might just be the ticket, as its hijinks center around a theatrical awards show that’s all about on-the-spot improvisation. You’ll have a role, making suggestions to fuel the comedic fire that unfolds with plot twists, made-up dialogue and musical numbers.

The Literary Salon: Love, Belfast

Get your nose out of your own book and head to Camden for a free, socially distanced reading. Judy Kaber, Belfast’s poet laureate, joins poets Elizabeth Garber, Ellen Sander and Karin Spitfire, who will all be reading some of their work. The afternoon gathering is sponsored by the Community Arts Fund, and if you’d rather stay on your couch, it will be livestreamed from the Camden Opera House Facebook page.
