Historical society now open twice a week
The Westbrook Historical Society, 426 Bridge St., is now open from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Saturdays. The headquarters and museum can be open by special appointment for group meetings or research by calling 854-5588.
Library friends to meet
Friends of Walker Memorial Library will hold its monthly meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the library, located at 800 Main St.
The group meets the fourth Thursday each month. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, email info@walkerfriennds.org.

The Westbrook American reported on Jan. 19, 1972, that Robert Barton of Brown Street was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
