Here in the U.S. and around the world, abortion rights are being challenged and attempts are being made to eliminate access to abortion services.

It is my belief that the real way to eliminate the need for most abortions is to eliminate sexism, rape, incest, coercion, inadequate access to birth control and birth control failures. These are hard things to achieve, but they are the root of the need for abortion and no attempt to eliminate abortion services can succeed without addressing these issues.

Abortions will keep happening regardless of these attempts to eliminate legal abortion, but they will be illegal, unsafe and, in some cases, deadly.

Let’s work to get agreement that we need to eliminate the need for abortion rather than keep penalizing any female who decides that is her choice. We all could work together to end the contributing factors, no matter how challenging that proposal might seem.
