Brady Afthim, Windham baseball: The senior stuck out 23 batters, allowed three hits and walked none in 8 1/3 innings before reaching his maximum pitch limit in a game won by Portland, 3-2, in 10 innings.

Zach Carpenter, Wells baseball: The junior threw 8 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and then led off the 13th inning with a triple and scored the winning run in the Class B Warriors’ 7-6 victory against Class A Kennebunk.

Owen Chestnut & Cooper Durcan, Kennebunk tennis: The seniors defeated Aaron Petry and Jacob Thornton of Westbrook 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to win the SMAA doubles tournament. Chestnut and Durcan are undefeated as a doubles team this season.

Sam Gerber, Portland lacrosse: A senior, Gerber scored seven goals to go with five assists in the Bulldogs’ 19-2 win against Deering after recording a six-goal game in a 10-0 win over Fryeburg Academy.

Aidan Martin, York track and field: The senior won the discus (156 feet, 2 inches) and the shot put (55-6 1/2) in the large-school division at the Western Maine Conference championships.

GIRLS

Eva Clement, Falmouth lacrosse: The senior midfielder scored in overtime to lift Falmouth to an 11-10 victory over Scarborough. Clement had three goals in the game.

Tori Hews, Cape Elizabeth track and field: The junior sprinter won the 100 meters (13.27 seconds) and 200 meters (27.30) in the large-school division at the Western Maine Conference championships.

Sofia Mavor, Yarmouth tennis: The freshman defeated Morgan Warner of Waynflete 6-4, 6-0 in the championship match of the Maine Principals’ Association’s singles tournament.

Madi Pelletier, Gray-New Gloucester softball: The senior pitched and batted the Patriots to a 12-11 win over Greely. Pelletier threw a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts, and hit a two-run, walk-off single.

Lexi Volinsky, Noble softball: A junior, Volinsky hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to help the Knights stun top-ranked Marshwood, 7-6.
