SACO — Grace Veroneau scored on a free position with two seconds left in overtime Friday, lifting Thornton Academy to a 7-6 girls’ lacrosse win over Portland.

Veroneau finished with three goals. Hazel Stoddard added two, and Morgan Bolduc and Izzy White also scored for the Golden Trojans (3-4).

Ella Reagan led Portland (3-4) with two goals. Jane Marvin, Mia Merrill, Elizabeth Littell and Lydia Stein each had one.

KENNEBUNK 17, BERWICK ACADEMY 3: Ruby Sliwkowski, Sydney Dumas and Lily Schwartzman scored four goals apiece as the Rams (8-0) defeated the Bulldogs (3-2) at Kennebunk.

Danielle Gassman added two goals.

Phoebe Clark scored twice and Jessica Woodall once for Berwick.

WAYNFLETE 10, WELLS 2: Jessie Connors scored five goals for the Flyers (4-2) in a win over the Warriors (2-4) at Wells.

Waynflete also got three goals from Lolly Millspaugh and two from Cece Bliss. Emily Girard made seven saves.

Nora Stevens and Rhiannon McQuade scored for Wells.

YARMOUTH 16, BRUNSWICK 1: Katelyn D’Appolonia led the Clippers (5-1) with four goals and four assists against the Dragons (4-3) in Yarmouth.

Anna Thornton added three goals, while Annie Lowenstein and Natalie Tears contributed two apiece. Yarmouth goalie Juliette Meas made seven saves.

Emily Cloutier scored for Brunswick.

GREELY 8, LAKE REGION 7: Elsa Dean-Muncie scored three goals and Samantha Goldburg added two as Greely (5-2) slipped past Lake Region (3-4) at Naples.

Lauren Dennen, Jenny Medrano and Charlotte Taylor also scored for the Rangers.

Mackenzie Siebert led the Lakers with three goals. Brianna Sargent added two, and Katie Keenan and Bella Russo also scored.

CONY 14, LINCOLN ACADEMY 3: Sierra Clark scored five goals to lead the Rams (5-2) past the Eagles (0-6) in Newcastle.

Frida Hennig, Dakota Gregory and Marley LeBel scored for Lincoln.

FALMOUTH 12, DEERING 5: Cameron Birks celebrated her birthday with three RBI and three hits – including a home run and a triple – and also was the winning pitcher as Falmouth (6-2) beat Deering (0-10) at Portland.

Falmouth scored three runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings.

Natalie Fortier also homered for Falmouth, and Miranda Birks and Valentina Van Zandt each had a double and a single.

NOBLE 13, YORK 3: Noble (5-5) scored four runs in the fourth inning and five in the sixth to pull away from the Wildcats (4-4) at York.

Paige Bronkema had three hits and Reece Rogers added two for the Knights.

Maggie Hanlon and Elly Burgoine collected two hits apiece for York.

WINDHAM SWEEPS CHEVERUS: Shyler Fielding, Amanda Foss, Brooke Gerry, Jaydn Kimball and Ella Wilcox drove in runs during a nine-run second inning as the Eagles (8-2) beat the Stags (1-6) in five innings, 16-0, to complete a doubleheader sweep at Portland.

Windham won the first game, 4-0. Gerry pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and also hit a double and a single and drove in a run. The Eagles scored two runs in the first inning and two in the fourth.

In the second game, Kimball finished with four RBI, Gerry had three and Wilcox two.

SACOPEE VALLEY SWEEPS ST. DOMINIC: Elyse Guptill threw a pair of one-hitters and also paced the offense as the Hawks (6-3) won twice against the Saints (2-4) in Hiram, 3-1 and 2-1.

Guptill belted a triple and a home run in Game 1. Abby Sanborn and Lakyn Hink each contributed an RBI single.

In Game 2, Guptill singled home Gabby Jamison-Martin with the go-ahead run in the sixth inning. April Barrett also drove in a run with a second-inning single.

CAPE ELIZABETH SWEEPS YARMOUTH: Kathryn Clay pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Capers (6-0) opened a doubleheader against Yarmouth (0-5) with a 12-0 win at Cape Elizabeth.

Cape also won the second game, 18-4. Winning pitcher Clara Baker allowed three hits.

BASEBALL

FREEPORT 7, LAKE REGION 2: Anthony Panciocco drove home two runs with sacrifice flies, and Blaine Cockburn, Nathan Abbott and Gus Wing combined on a two-hitter for the Falcons (9-0) against the Lakers (4-4) in Freeport.

Blaine Cockburn, Caden Benedict and Elias Thomas each hit a double for Freeport. Hayden Tremblay had a double for Lake Region.

POLAND SWEEPS GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER: Hunter Gibson drove in four runs and Brody Keefe added three RBI in Game 1 to start the Knights (5-5) on their way to a doubleheader sweep against the Patriots (2-9) in Gray, 18-7 and 13-1.

Adam Gwarjanski chipped in with two RBI for Poland in the opener. Conner Saunders drove home two runs for Gray-New Gloucester.

Keefe was the winning pitcher in Game 2, Gwarjanski had two doubles and Gibson also recorded two  hits. Nick Geer hit a double for the Patriots and Mike Sweeney drove in the only run.

SACOPEE VALLEY SWEEP ST. DOMINIC: Tristan Croteau pitched six shutout innings as Sacopee Valley (7-4) completed a sweep of St. Dominic (0-5) with a 5-0 victory in the second game at Hiram, after rallying to take the opener, 5-3.

Croteau allowed seven hits and struck out two. McGwire Sawyer had two hits for the Hawks.

In the opener, Carson Black hit a two-run homer on an 0-2 count in the sixth inning to give Sacopee a 4-3 lead. Croteau had three hits.

WAYNFLETE/NYA 8, RICHMOND 0: Luke Josephson struck out 13 while pitching a no-hitter as Waynflete/NYA (5-3) won at Richmond.

OCEANSIDE 3, MEDOMAK VALLEY 2: Nathan Coombs drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh as the Mariners (3-7) edged the Panthers (2-2) in Waldoboro.

Alex Bartlett tallied three hits for Oceanside. Duncan Oakes-Nelsen earned the win, striking out seven and walking four while allowing five hits and a run.

Ethan Reed led Medomak Valley with a single and a double. Isaac McCollett struck out seven.

MORSE 8, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Gabe Aucoin hit a triple and a single, and Jansen Morrison and Brenton Cahill also had two hits apiece to lead the Shipbuilders (3-4) to a win over the Eagles (0-4) in Newcastle.

CAMDEN HILLS 20, ERSKINE ACADEMY 2: Levi Guay recorded three goals and six assists, and Jakob Johnson, Willy Doehla and Eric Andrews also scored three times apiece for the Windjammers (6-1) in a won over the Eagles (0-6) in South China.
