Library expanding hours,
allowing patrons to browse
Wells Public Library is expanding its hours, allowing a limited number of patrons into the building to browse and check out items at 1434 Post Road.
The library is now open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday for indoor browsing and from 5 to 6 p.m. for curbside Pickup. Tuesday and Thursday hours are 1 to 5 p.m. for indoor browsing and 5 to 6 p.m. for curbside pickup. Saturday hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for browsing.
Masks are required. Entrance is through the rear doors and exit is through the front doors. There is no public computer use. All returning materials must be dropped in the book drop at the back of the building. Visits are limited to 15 minutes.
Children’s programs this week include Jaded YA Reads for teens, tweens and adults at 10 a.m. Saturday. Listen online for a reading of the young adult mystery novel “The Inheritance Games” by Jennifer Lynn Barnes at: anchor.fm/wells-library-ya.
Mother Goose Storytime will be held at at 10:30 a.m. Monday on Facebook and YouTube, featuring lap activities, rhymes, songs, and fingerplays for ages 24 months and younger and their caregivers.
Adult programs will include a “Friends Book Event” from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Members of the Friends of the Wells Public Library, or those who wish to be, are invited to a free “Bring Your Own Bag for Books” event.

CAMDEN
Presentation on birds
to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday
Coastal Mountains Land Trust and the Camden Public Library will co-host an online presentation “Birds of Midcoast Maine and Utah’s Wasatch Range with Brian Willson” at 6 p.m. Thursday via Zoom.
An avid birder and amateur nature photographer, Brian Willson has taken thousands of photos of wild Maine birds as well as many Western species following his move in Salt Lake City, Utah. He will head a virtual slide show comparing and contrasting the landscapes and wildlife of Maine’s midcoast and Utah’s Wasatch Range. A Q & A will follow.

FALMOUTH
Final spring pickup of leaves
will take place Friday
Residents are reminded that the final spring curbside collection for leaf bags will take place on
Friday. All leaf bags must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. to ensure pick up.
Brush will not be collected curbside but can be brought to the transfer station. Leaf bags are for leaves only. Do not put brush or trash in the leaf bags.
Transfers station hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays; and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

WISCASSET
Members exhibit marks
reopening of art gallery
An exhibit by members of the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset marks the gallery’s opening for the first time in more than one year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Themed “What inspires you?,” the exhibit features an eclectic mix of member art works.
An outdoor, opening reception will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, with CDC preventions and guidelines strictly observed. Rain date for the reception is Sunday. During the opening reception visitors will have an opportunity to bid on eight delightful birdhouses decorated by local artists and donated to the gallery to help it raise funds for its programs and building maintenance.
The show will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays through June 5.
Another gallery fundraiser is an ongoing online auction of over 30 works of art donated by artists and collectors that continues until June 15. Visit liveauctioneers.com/catalog/202075_fine-art-auction/ to view and bid.

BRUNSWICK
Androscoggin Bank Run for Independence set for Saturday
Registration is still open for the 9th annual Androscoggin Bank Run for Independence, a virtual event that allows participants to choose their own 5K, 10K or 1-mile course, show off their achievements on social media, and celebrate with great discounts at local businesses Saturday morning.
All funds raised benefit the pioneering health and wellness initiatives of Independence Association, supporting kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 9 Maine counties.
Androscoggin Bank has been presenting sponsor of the event for eight years, and typically fields a large team of runners from its employees and friends. This year, the Androscoggin team will run in Lewiston, where the bank is headquartered.
Team IA, sponsored by Guardian Pharmacy of Maine, is again on track to be the event’s largest team, with more than 40 registrants from Independence Association’s clients and staff. Other pre-registered teams will be running in New York, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Massachusetts, Southern California and Vermont, as well as many Maine cities and towns.

Business breakfast to address cannabis industry
The Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a “Cannabis Panel” business breakfast from 7:15 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Best Western Plus O’Brien Event Center (former Pete & Larry’s), 375 Main St.
Local business leaders will address various aspects of the cannabis market regarding retail/growing, insurance, finance and regulations.
