Wicked Good Boutique will be selling items from the LuLaRoe clothing line during Bath’s 3rd Friday Art Walk at the Patten Free Library on June 16 from 4-7 p.m. as a fundraiser for the library. Portions of the proceeds will supporting Saturday hours at the library.
Ten years ago, the Patten Free Library kicked off a fundraising initiative called Saturday Club. Business members and individuals have the opportunity to sponsor a Saturday at different giving levels in order to curb the cost for the Library.
This year they have raised more than $10,000 from 24 donors, including Mid Coast Hospital, Sagadahock Real Estate and Bath Savings Institution. This year the library launched a nonprofit partnership level and have welcomed Bath Garden Club, the Bath Elks Club, Bath Area Food Bank, Bath Rotary, Youth Meetinghouse & Skatepark and the YMCA as members. The Saturday Club has created a partnership that has enabled the Patten Free Library to achieve its goal of increasing patron accessibility while providing a space to inspire lifelong learning and creative exploration.
The LuLaRoe clothing line is not sold in stores, but by independent sellers like Christina Boyington and Lynne and Wayne Otto — who run Wicked Good Boutique in Bath — are able to sell the garments.
“The LuLaRoe culture is to give back to the community and to individuals in need. Wicked Good Boutique holds fundraisers regularly to benefit organizations like the Patten Free Library,” said Wayne. Wicked Good Boutique will donate a percent of sales from the event, and LuLaRoe will donate 10 percent on top of that, towards supporting the Patten Free Library and the Saturday Club. The pop-up boutique will offer a variety of women’s and kids clothing.
Patten Free joined Bath’s 3rd Friday Art Walk in the summer of 2015, keeping their doors open for art walk attendees after they close at 5 p.m. The library has an extensive in-house collection that attendees can tour. Each Art Walk the library celebrates local artists in the Community Room. Patten Free Library features dozens of art pieces spread over two floors, and is one of he stops on the Bath Art Walk and Trolley Tour. The Bath Trolley runs the route of the art walk over the course of the night, stopping right in the library’s parking lot each trip.
