The gallery space at Midcoast Conservancy is currently showing an exhibit of work by artist Mat O’Donnell.
“Maine Narratives” is a collection of paintings that depict contemporary American life.
“Making a painting requires an impetus to know … not necessarily the truth, but visually realize ideas that cannot be mentally pictured,” O’Donnell said. “Art makes concrete what cannot be achieved by other means. Through my drawings and paintings, I try to portray the different layers of existence that surround me, from mundane to cosmic.”
O’Donnell lives in Wiscasset, where his studio is situated next to the Monsweag River. The exhibit will run through Sept. 29. Midcoast Conservancy is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; drop in anytime to see the exhibit. There will be a reception from 5-8 p.m., on Sept. 28, as part of the final 2017 Wiscasset Art Walk. All are welcome.
