He was born in Belfast on March 9, 1934, the son of Josephine ( Senecal) and William Kelley. Dennis graduated from Freeport High School with the Class of 1952, attended Northeastern University and served in the US Army.
Dennis was an accomplished mechanic and owned his first of two gas stations in Freeport on Main Street. He also worked for a time at Performance Motors in Falmouth before purchasing the business next door, Coastal Microfilms.
Dennis enjoyed working and keeping himself busy, just like his father, and so was employed full time in property management with commercial real estate in Freeport. In "off" time he always enjoyed traveling by car and it didn’t matter where. He also had an abiding interest in boats and a fond memory was the work he did on the schooner, Grey Goose. A favorite haunt was Friendly’s in Freeport. Dennis was a well known and highly respected member of his community and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his son, Paull Kelley; his daughters, ChloeRiva " Clover" Craig and Amanda Kelley; his grandchildren Ashley Kelley, Zachary and Moira Craig, Jaeden Kennedy; great-grandchildren Keegan Lampp and soon to be Ryder Scott; his sisters, Maureen Perkins and Nina Minnihan and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Friday January 13 from 5 – 7 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 14 at 11: 00 AM at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, corner of Main and School Streets, Freeport. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Smith Street, Yarmouth in the spring.
