BATH
Bath police on Tuesday summonsed a 36-year-old man for failing to register as a sex offender after moving from Topsham to Bath.
Fermin Sawtell, 36, had last registered in Topsham, but Bath Police Lt. Stan Cielinski said Thursday that Sawtell allegedly moved in with a relative at Oak Grove Commons apartments on Oak Grove Avenue.
Sawtell was convicted of felonious sexual assault, according to the Maine Sex Offender Registry, and is required to register for life.
Bath Police Detective Jim Motz and Sgt. Jeff Shiers found Sawtell in the apartment on Tuesday morning and issued summonses for Class D failure to comply with the sex offender registry and violation of conditions of release. He is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on March 6.
