PORTLAND — A shape note singing session is planned March 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The New Church, 302 Stevens Ave.
This four-part singing tradition — also known as sacred harp singing — is loud, exciting and raises the spirits, notes a release from organizers. “Begun in early New England, it is enjoying a revival nationwide. This is not a performance — everyone is welcome to participate.”
Tune books may be borrowed. Participation is free.
