Patten Free Library’s series of Oscar-winning love stories continues in March with weekly screenings at 2 p.m. Wednesdays.
Films were chosen from the American Film Institute’s “100 Years … 100 Passions,” a list of the greatest love stories of all time. Each film also won the Best Picture Oscar in its respective year.
The schedule for March is as follows:
— March 7: “ Marty,” the 1955 Academy Award winner starring Ernest Borgnine, who also won the Oscar for Best Actor.
— March 14: “From Here to Eternity,” Montgomery Clift, Deborah Kerr, Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra star in a 1953 drama set on the eve of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Best Supporting Actor went to Frank Sinatra.
— March 21: “An American In Paris,” the 1951 musical set in Paris starring Leslie Caron and Gene Kelly.
— March 28: “It Happened One Night,” in which Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable perform together for the first time in this 1934 screwball comedy.
The films are screened in the library’s community room. Attendance and refreshments are free. Call 443-5141 for information.
