FALMOUTH — The North Atlantic Figure Skating Club ( NAFSC) will host its 14th annual ice show at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Family Ice Center, 20 Hat Trick Drive.
Directed by Deb Coppinger of Portland, this year’s show, “Gettin’ Around,” will feature 28 solo and group performances to such classics as “Up Up and Away,” “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Little Red Corvette,” “Come Fly with Me” and “Walking on Sunshine.”
Highlights include special guest performances by Morgan Sewall of Scarborough. Sewall, 15, is a ninth grade honors student at Scarborough High School. Coached by Carol Pichette, Sewall, who started skating at age 6, has earned more than 55 medals. This season, she won the New England Novice Ladies title, earning her a trip to the Eastern Championship where she place fourth and qualified for the U.S. National Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, Calif.
More than 80 skaters from Maine and New Hampshire ranging in age from 4 to 60 will participate in the show. The club’s top freestyle skaters will perform solos, including Julia Gilman and Elizabeth Stewart, both of Falmouth; Haley Rice and Sophie Lawsure, both of Scarborough; Maggie Nolan of Cumberland; Samantha Abelson of Kennebunk; and Franz- Peter Jerosch of Yarmouth. Graduating senior Gemma Carter of Falmouth will skate her farewell solo performance.
The show also will include performances by the Nor’Easters, NAFSC’s own synchronized skating teams, including the Beginner, Open Juvenile, and Open Adult teams.
The show is a family-oriented performance and is appropriate for all ages, according to a release from the club.
Tickets are $8 for children and seniors, $12 for adults, and $20 for premium seating (reserved seats with backs). Tickets are available at the door. For reserved seats, call 781-5058.
