THE SHANGHAI QUARTET will perform in Brunswick July 18.
The Bowdoin International Music Festival is thrilled to announce the Shanghai Quartet’s performance on July 18. It will be the third concert in the festival’s Monday Showcase series featuring string quartets from around the world in Bowdoin’s Studzinski Recital Hall. The quartet will be playing Frank Bridge’s Novelletten, H. 44, Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6 in F Minor, Op. 80, and Johannes Brahms’ String Quintet No. 1 in F Major, Op. 88 with violist and festival Artistic Director Phillip Ying.
Tickets and subscriptions are now on sale for all of the festival’s summer concerts. Individual tickets are $40 and subscriptions are $175. Monday subscriptions allow patrons to hear five of the world’s finest string quartets play together as well as collaborate with festival faculty. All Monday Showcase concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.
“The Shanghai has a long history with the Festival and we couldn’t be happier to have them returning this year,” said BIMF PR and Marketing Coordinator Casey Oakes. “I can’t imagine a better way to spend a Monday night, or any night, than with an incredible performance by the Shanghai.”
