Kendrick, an environmental scientist and senior principal in Stantec’s Topsham office, penned Chapter 8, “Sustainability Aspects of Large-Scale Wind Developments.” The chapter describes the sustainability considerations of the wind power development process, including potential positive and negative impacts of design choices and how wind power’s sustainability is currently being measured.
“Renewable energy sources like wind power are seen as vital components of sustainable infrastructure across the country,” said Kendrick. “But balancing their benefits with their impacts and finding ways to measure those benefits can be challenging. This chapter, and this book overall, highlights where this kind of measurement and refinement of the process is headed.”
Kendrick was chosen to author the chapter based on his 15 years working in the renewable energy market.
Stantec is an active member of the Zofnass Program’s Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory Board.
