The DaPonte String Quartet continues its 25th Summer Season with “Then and Now,” a seven-concert series that runs through classical music from its earliest foundations to a fresh, contemporary work. The program includes a world premier commissioned by the DaPonte String Quartet and works by Bach, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. It will be performed from July 23 through Aug.13 in new venues as well as familiar ones in Tenants Harbor, South Bristol, Harpswell, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, and Stonington.

The DaPonte String Quartet was founded in 1991 in Philadelphia. It moved to Maine more than 20 years ago and now performs over 60 concerts a year, year round, from Presque Isle to Ogunquit.
