BRUNSWICK — John W. Bowman, 78, of Brunswick, passed away June 28, 2012.

Born December 20, 1933, the son of Joseph W. and Jewel E. Bowman, John grew up in Braintree, MA. On December 3, 1954 he married his love and soul mate, Frances Marie Bowman (Peterson) of Weymouth, MA while serving in the U.S. Navy. He is a Korean and Vietnam War veteran and earned a retirement with the U.S. Navy through active and reserve duty. John was very proud of his service. He worked many jobs as an operating engineer and pipe fitter, including jobs at shipyards including Bath Iron Works. He retired from the V.A. Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. In his last year of his life, John was a Mid Coast Hospital Volunteer at the Emergency end and loved the people he worked with. John has lived in Massachusetts, Maine, Arizona, Oregon and his final year was in Brunswick.

John is predeceased by his love and soul mate of 56 years, Frances Marie Bowman, and survived by four sons: John W. Bowman, Jr. (Jack) and his wife Norma of Apache Jct., AZ; Scott A. Bowman and his wife Sharold of Owl’s Head, ME; Joseph K. Bowman and his wife Gale of Dresden, ME; Glenn W. Bowman and his wife Tanya of Woolwich, ME; and a daughter, Allison M. Bowman of Lompoc, CA; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; 2 sisters, his closest sister being Anna A. Brackett of Boca Raton, FL and Sally Sanders and her husband Omar of Lordsburg, NM.

John will join his soul mate, Frances and be laid to rest in the Bayview Cemetery in Bowdoinham, ME. There will be no services at their request.
