Brunswick High School sophomore Hannah Perreault has been acting for most of her life. Now, her second online series is taking off in The Misadventures of Brooke and Carly, premiering September 2.
“I play Brooke and basically it’s about these two girls who aren’t the brightest bulbs in the pack,” Perreault said, “they get into a lot of trouble most of the time but they’re good at heart and they really try to be nice girls but it just doesn’t work out for them.”
In Broke and Carly, Perreault stars alongside Sydney Bradshaw. Bradshaw, and much of the cast, live in Connecticut where the show takes place. It’s a three hour drive each way for Perreault, who said she’ll spend a few weekends working on the show.
Then, she said, it’s off to editing for a few months before it’s final release.
The show is a spinoff of Grandpaville and the mini-ovie Grandpaland, another online creation of Emmy nominated actor and director, Michael T. Lombardi.
Lombardi spent years behind the scenes of E! Entertainment, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon on top of his work in television commercials and voiceovers.
“The goal of the production is to reach as many people as possible both inside and outside the entertainment industry, but also to show people that a high-level production quality is possible from a local, independent production company like Michael T. Originals,” Lombardi said.
Perreault describes her work in Grandpaland as a girl who moves in with her grandfather — a much-loved figure in town who owns a toy shop.
As for the future hopes of the series and her online hopes for her work on Grandpaland and Brooke and Carly, Perreault is hoping they will catch the eyes of bigger markets like Disney or Nickelodeon.
“Everyone hopes for that — it’s the big dream. I hope that it gets picked up because it’s really good and I think that it has the quality,” Perreault said.
And what sets The Misadventures of Brooke and Carly apart from the typical teen show?
“It doesn’t put the parents as fools in a sort of way, the way Disney shows do. They’re really funny but they’re not stupid at the same time. It’s for everyone where Disney shows are just pointing at one specific age area. Everyone could sit down and watch it with their whole family,” Perreault said.
Perreault said she’s been stage acting since she was three-years-old and appearing in film since around seven — her first film debut was a short film dubbed Death, Taxes and Apple Juice, Perreault said, laughing.
Perreault said she hopes to make her career either on the stage or in film, saying it’s what she truly loves to do.
Locally, Perreault has appeared recently in Bye, Bye Birdie and The Adams Family, where she played Wednesday Adams. In contrast, she played Elle Woods in a production of Legally Blonde.
“I just like becoming something else — you have to separate yourself form the character. If I was just myself, I wouldn’t do the things I do — I would be too scared to do it,” Perreault said, confirming she’s no Wednesday Adams in real life.
