The following is a schedule of events for December at Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant Street, Brunswick. The library will be closed Dec. 25, 26 and 31. All programs are free and open to the public.

• Fandom Club at BHS
Tuesdays Dec. 6 & 20, 2:15-3:15 p.m.
The Brunswick High School Book Club has evolved and powered up into a weekly Fandemonium Club. Come to the Brunswick High School Library and do stuff afterschool, whether it’s play games, discuss what you’ve read, make stuff, watch movies, whatever. Each week will be something different. Co-hosted by Daurene Jerome, BHS Librarian, and Melissa Orth, Teen Librarian at CML. Homeschoolers are welcome. At Brunswick High School.

Stories, songs and activities for preschoolers. Promotes early literacy through reading, writing, talking, playing and singing. Suggested ages 2-4. No story time Dec. 28.
• BJHS 7th & 8th Grade Book Club
Wednesdays Dec 14 & 21, 2:45-3:30 p.m.
Open to any 7th or 8th grade Brunswick Junior High School or homeschooled student. This is a club where teens choose the books and we play board games in between or while discussing some good reads. Bring your own snacks. At Brunswick Junior High School.

• Fireside Writers Group
Fridays 10-11:30 a.m.
Writing group led by Molly McGrath, Director of Publications at the Telling Room. All ages and abilities welcome. No meeting Dec. 23 or 30.
• Music Fun with Miss Teresa
Fridays 10:30-11:15 a.m.
Lively songs, rhythms and movement with Teresa Gillis, followed by playtime. Supports early literacy development and a love of music, and it’s fun! For babies and toddlers and their caregivers. No music fun Dec. 23 or 30.

• Scrap Craft: Snowflakes
Dec. 7, 1-3 p.m.
Learn how to make realistic snowflakes from scrap paper. Several different types of snowflakes will be taught, allowing participants to make a variety of beautiful decorations which can be used on their own or strung together to form garlands. Ages teen to adult. Curtis Underground
• Early Release Day: Elf the Movie
Dec. 7, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
It’s the annual showing of “Elf: the Movie,” complete with interaction, food from four food groups and small gift making.
• Another Time, Another Place Science Fiction Book Group
Dec. 8, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Monthly science fiction book discussion group. This month we discuss Moonfall by Jack McDevitt. Everyone who has read the book and would like to discuss it is welcome to attend meetings.

• Kidfun: Jingle Bell Bracelets

Make a simple bell bracelet to wear on your wrist or use as a shaker when you listen to music! Available in the children’s area starting at 10:30 a.m.
• Local Picture Book Illustrators
Dec. 10, 3-4 p.m.
A panel discussion with local picture book illustrators Charlotte Agell, Lisa Bossi, Angelina Buonauito, and Olga Pastuchiv. They will answer queries about the world of picture book illustration, and offer their books for sale and signature.
• Special Brunswick HS Fandom Club Field Trip
Dec. 13, 2:15 p.m. – ?
Field trip to Barnes and Noble bookstore. Must get permission slip to go.
• Scrap Craft: Gift Boxes
Dec. 15, 1-3 p.m. and Dec. 20, 10 a.m. to noon
Learn how to make origami gift boxes from scrap paper. A variety of box-making techniques will be taught. Ages teen to adult.
• I’ll Read Anything Book Group
Dec. 21, 1-2 p.m.
Monthly book group led by director Liz Doucett. This month we discuss Baker’s Magic by Diane Zahler. Everyone who has read the book and would like to discuss it is welcome to attend meetings.
• Lego Club and Little Bits Electronic Blocks
Dec. 28, 10:30 a.m. to noon
Join other creative kids for a session of building and fun! We have thousands of LEGO bricks to share. All ages. Bonus: Add lights to your creations and explore circuits with Little Bits electronic building blocks. Little Bits are recommended for ages 8 and up, or younger with a caregiver.
• Lego Gingerbread House
Dec. 29, 2-3 p.m.
The STEAM scenario: your home is filled with recently received presents but the neighborhood watch has been informed a burglar has been casing the area. Using LEGO bricks and circuitry and other non-food materials, teens in 6-12 are challenged to create a gingerbread house complete with burglar alarm. This teen event is free but space is limited. Call (207) 725- 5242 x 225 to register starting Dec. 19 at 9:30am. All materials will be provided by the library.
